True equity and social justice for ALL, begins with humanization.
The Humanization Matters Collaborative envisions a world free of dehumanization.
The Humanization Matters Collaborative (HMC) seeks to humanize and elevate the voice of oppressed and/or indigenous communities through a focus on three areas: healthcare, education, and media. HMC believes that community-based partnerships, co-design, and co-creation are key to the process of humanization and seeks to engage trusted community partners in these efforts. The HMC honors a community’s history, their stories in their own words, their pain and trauma, and their desire for dignity, freedom, equity, and agency.
True equity and social justice for ALL, begins with humanization. Humanization is foundational to human beings’ ability to see AND hear one another, to acknowledge harm, and ensure equity and justice for all human beings. Dehumanization is a social and psychological construct, and part of a larger set of structures that seek to oppress and deny groups basic rights and freedoms. Dehumanization breeds the vilest forms of racism and prejudice, which can lead to the justification of violations of civil and human rights, mass violence, war crimes, and genocide against dehumanized communities.
The HMC provides consulting, strategic planning, and advisory services to health systems, healthcare organizations and non-profit organizations, school districts, academic institutions, non-governmental organizations, government agencies, media companies, and corporate entities who seek to ensure dignity, acknowledge and eliminate harm, and build trust and elevate lived experience, in partnership with dehumanized communities.
The HMC will seek to implement community co-designed and co-created strategies and solutions, to answer how humanization looks like in policy and practice, in the areas of healthcare, education, and media, at the community, national and international levels, and how strategies and solutions can be scaled and spread.
